It’s easy to mistake a given hourly rate for pure profit. I mean, who doesn’t want to be making $200+ an hour!? The unfortunate news, is that charging $200 for an hour of service, is not equal to earning $200 an hour. See, in order to make $200 an hour, you must have zero expenses and must be paid purely for the time you are hired. Imagine you got hired to do a 1-hour phone call to talk about your favorite foods. No prep work, no research needed, and unrelated to any business or job you have. If you got paid $200 to dial in at 12pm and the call ended at 1pm, at which point the money was instantly transferred into your bank account, then you would truly be earning $200 an hour! But this simply is not the case for us photo booth operators (or virtually any business for that matter).

This is because of a little thing called expenses (overhead, variable, fixed and taxes, to name a few). 

After seeing so many new owners struggle with this exact same problem, I realized an easy solution for this is to have a simple calculator! 

Now, obviously a calculator can’t tell you WHAT to charge, or give you any background information about what is going on in the market/industry, but it will tell you what NOT to charge. 

Meaning, if you plugin somewhat accurate numbers relating to your current, or projected costs, you’ll know how much you can expect to make for any given event, at a preset rate. This should help you avoid the pitfall that so many find themselves in (including myself) when they first get into the business.
